What do I need to know about FLEAS?
Fleas can inflict misery on you and your pet by disrupting your whole household with a vicious cycle of biting, itching and scratching. Dogs and cats can be exposed through contact with other animals and infested areas. Even just a few fleas can cause flea allergy dermatitis (FAD) in some pets. Fleas can also be the source of tapeworm infection. Swallowing just one flea can infest your pet with tapeworms. Fleas are also a carrier of the disease borrelia, better known as Cat Scratch Fever. That's why it's important to get rid of fleas fast, and to continually protect your pet--and your family--by preventing future infestation.
What do I need to know about TICKS?
Ticks can transmit serious diseases to pets and people. So tiny they often go unnoticed, they may be hiding anywhere. There are various kinds of ticks throughout the country, each with the potential of carrying different diseases. Tick-born diseases may be dangerous--and might even prove fatal. Some common diseases include Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, Tick Paralysis, Lyme Disease and Erhlichiosis. It's clear that protection against these potential health hazards is a concern for every pet owner.
What can I do to protect my pet from fleas and ticks?
There are several products to keep your pet parasite free:
Advantage--Cure your dog of fleas today with Advantage by Bayer. Advantage is the quickest way to stop fleas from biting your pet. Once applied to your Dog, it works to stop fleas from biting within 5 minutes. After 12 hours, 98-100 percent of the fleas are dead. Advantage can also be used to prevent further infestations of fleas if used on a monthly basis. Advantage does not work for ticks.
Frontline--Eliminates fleas fast, and is long-lasting and kills all major types of disease-carrying ticks--including those that transmit Lyme disease--topical.
K9 Advantix--K9 Advantix is a convenient, once-a-month flea, tick, and mosquito control for dogs and puppies seven weeks of age and older. K9 Advantix stops biting fleas within three to five minutes1 and repels and kills ticks and mosquitoes. Imidacloprid, one of the active ingredients in K9 Advantix, also kills 98 - 100 percent of fleas within 12 hours.
Capstar--Starts working within 30 minutes--a single dose should kill the adult fleas on your pet. If your pet gets re-infested, it is safe to give another dose as often as once per day--no pesticide residue--is safe to use with Frontline or Program.
